It's beginning to look (and feel) a lot like Christmas. The Downtown Little Rock Partnership will once again host Bright the Night, its annual tree lighting bash, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Capitol Plaza on the corner of Capitol Avenue and Main Street. (Editor's note: This event was originally slated for Nov. 20, but was postponed due to threat of rain.)
Debuting a brand new tree, the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with holiday performances by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Saint Mark Sanctuary Choir, and of course, the tree lighting ceremony. Attendees can enjoy free hot chocolate, coffee, Community Bakery cookies, caroling, a bounce house, the chance to meet Santa and some winter weather magic.
Bright the Night will also kick off a new holiday decorating contest where downtown businesses will display their merriest exterior decor, competing for top honors in the categories of best overall, most whimsical and best light display. The winners will be announced Friday, Dec. 20.
The tree-lighting event is free and open to the public, and the downtown winter wonderland will be on display through early January.
