We're only a month away from the start of Ballet Arkansas' 40th anniversary season and excitement is high. Having impacted hundreds of thousands of Arkansans in its history, the dance company is pulling out all the stops this year.

"Ballet Arkansas' 40th anniversary season is a perfect time to honor our past and forge new pathways that will last for the next 40 years," associate artistic director Catherine Fothergill says.

Audiences can expect classical, contemporary and everything in between. Here's a recap of what's in store for this milestone season.

Main Stage Performances:

"Dracula" | Oct. 14, UCA Reynolds Performance Hall + Oct. 19-21, CHARTS Theater at UA Pulaski Tech

"Dracula" — based on Bram Stoker's telling — is suitable for children of all ages and features breathtaking original choreography by artistic director Michael Fothergill, and multi-media experience with projection created by Cranford Co. and 360 sound.

40th Annual "Nutcracker" Spectacular | Dec. 7-9, Robinson Center

This magical production features nearly 200 local children and adults, in addition to the professional artists of Ballet Arkansas. Those that purchase "Sweet Seats" will receive a special gift and get to see the show from the best seats in the house!

"Fire & Rain" | Feb. 14-17, CHARTS Theater

"Fire & Rain" combines the drama and precision of classical ballet with the power and athleticism of contemporary dance. Attendees will enjoy the romantic Romeo and Juliet balcony scene, a fiery Don Quixote suite and a tribute to James Taylor.

"Forte" | May 3-5, CHARTS Theater

"Forte" will cap off the 2018-19 season. The performance will be a collaboration with internationally acclaimed musician Dr. Drew Mays. Audience members will be able to see the athleticism of contemporary creations, as well as ballet classics including the Swan Lake suite.

Children’s Series:

"Mary Poppins" | Feb. 17, CHARTS Theater

For one performance only, Ballet Arkansas will present "Mary Poppins." Children are invited on stage to participate and dance with Mary Poppins herself.

"The Ugly Duckling" | May 5, CHARTS Theater

"The Ugly Duckling" is a perfect production for children of all ages and delicately broaches the topic of bullying with a dose of humor.
