MacArthur Park is getting one heck of a 125th birthday bash on Sept. 29.
The MacArthur Park Group is celebrating the anniversary of Little Rock's first park with a full day of fun including family activities, crafts, live music and living history demonstrations. With an event passport, attendees can travel through the park's history and be entered in a raffle to win one of three prizes including AAC Children's Theater tickets, an AAC membership or a flat screen TV.
Here's how the day will go down:
- Re-opening Party for The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. — Join the grand re-opening party for The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History with the Vintage Military Vehicle Show. Music will be provided by the 106th Brass Quintet and Funkle Sam.
- History Walk, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. — Walk through the park's history with stops at the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Arts Center, Central Arkansas Library System and the ladies of Little Rock's Aesthetic Club. Picnicking in the park is encouraged and WoodmenLife will be grilling hot dogs to give out to visitors. Loblolly Creamery and Stone's Throw Brewing will be on-site in the afternoon for those needing a cold treat or a cold drink, respectively.
- German Biergarten, 4-8 p.m. — In the evening, attention will turn to the German Biergarten with beer provided by local breweries. Admission to the biergarten is $5. Along with admission, attendees will receive a token for a free drink from the brewery of their choice. The Itinerant Locals will be providing live music throughout the evening.
