Hillcrest Waterbugs recently announced it's expanding beyond environmentally friendly T-shirts with its launch of Zero Marketplace by Hillcrest Waterbugs. The new line will feature Little Rock-themed tote bags made of hemp to be used in place of single-use plastics.
The first line of tote bags features Little Rock neighborhoods like Hillcrest and The Heights, but later this year Hillcrest Waterbugs will roll out designs featuring every corner of The Natural State. The shop will also carry other eco-conscious items such as bamboo utensils, R-PET carrier pouches, face and body products, produce bags, bamboo biodegradable toothbrushes, reusable straws and more.
As an introduction to a reduced waste lifestyle, Zero Marketplace offers starter kits with one of the reusable totes and other environmentally friendly products. For example, the "On the Go" starter kit includes a Little Rock shopping bag, a KleanKanteen metal/silicone bendy straw, Hillcrest Waterbugs RPET bamboo utensil set and a carabiner to attach RPET case to the bag.
“Hillcrest Waterbugs and Zero Marketplace is the first of its kind here in Arkansas and we couldn't be more excited,” president and CEO Jennifer Cox says. “We know that Arkansans will identify with our brand and these products to help save their 'hood and their state. The environment is our concern. Our efforts locally will be to continue advocating for the ban of single-use plastics in all our neighborhoods.”
