Camp Aldersgate's annual fundraising event, Aldersgate After Dark, is almost here.
New to this year's event is the location itself. For the first time in event history, Aldersgate After Dark will be held on the campgrounds in the heart of Little Rock. The event will be held on May 18 from 7-11 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here.
Co-chairs Anna and Tim Coon chatted with us about what to expect with this year's event.
Tell me a little about yourselves. What are your occupations? Have you always lived in Arkansas?
Tim and I have both spent the majority of our lives in Arkansas. Tim is the CFO at Forest Hill Capital, an investment management firm here in Little Rock. Tim loves to golf. I am a food and wellness blogger. I love volunteering for many various causes. We have four dogs and two cats and are currently pursuing a newborn domestic adoption. We love taking our dogs to the dog park and going to the lake with friends and family!
What led you to get involved with Camp Aldersgate?
Tim was introduced to camp by a former board member. He took Tim on a tour of camp and he was immediately drawn to the mission and opportunities. I became involved when Tim joined the board. The mission of camp deeply speaks to us both: a nonprofit serving individuals with special needs and medical conditions in a camp environment!
This is the first year the event will be held on the grounds of the camp. That’s exciting! What led to this decision?
We are so excited to have the event at camp this year! The board and staff agreed that we need to capture the essence of camp, and there is no better place to do that than on the grounds of the campus. We are looking forward to guests being able to see exactly where the life-changing work of Camp Aldersgate happens.
What else can people look forward to at this year’s event?
We will have food from Boulevard Bread Company, libations and entertainment provided by The Intruders. Guests will even get a chance to ride the carousel!
What kind of silent auction items will be up for bidding this year?
There is a duck hunt, a 10-class package from ZenStudio Fitness Boutique, original artwork, a cabin on the Little Red River, jewelry from Kendra Scott, a puppy package, plenty of restaurant gift cards and much more. The event committee has been hard at work!
How would you describe the event's atmosphere?
This event is such a fun night out in support of an even better cause. It is going to be a laid-back atmosphere. While the event is held at camp, it will embody the simply chic theme of "glamping." It will feel as if you have traveled to a retreat, while still being in the heart of the city. This is one of the things that makes camp so great!
What makes this event stand out from other fundraising events?
This event stands out because it is actually held where the life-giving work of Camp Aldersgate happens. You can actually see where campers play and experience joy they otherwise would not have been able to experience. Our wish is for guests to be able to visualize the hard work that goes into each session of camp and appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the grounds.
