If it's wrong to say Ballet Arkansas' brand new team members are on pointe, we don't want to be right.
The troupe recently announced the addition of Michael Fothergill and Catherine Garratt Fothergill as Ballet Arkansas' new artistic and associate artistic directors. The couple come to Little Rock from Alabama Ballet, and are enthusiastic about joining the performing arts community here.
“Ballet Arkansas is a passionate organization and driving force throughout the state," Catherine said. "I am excited to join the team and feel strongly that what lies around the corner promises to be a sensational new phase in the company's development.”
“Catherine and I are dedicated to providing communities across Arkansas and the region with access to vibrant and collaborative arts programming featuring the talented and passionate dancers of the organization,” Michael said.
This announcement comes after news of former artistic director Michael Bearden departing for a role as director of the School of Dance at the University of Oklahoma, and former artistic associate director Laura Hood Babcock joining Miami City Ballet as their new director of marketing, sales and communications.
