Never short of ingenious ways to encourage more young people into the arts, this summer the Thea Foundation is presenting its salon-style Delta des Refusés art exhibition. The exhibition takes its name from the famous 1863 Paris Salon des Refusés — an exhibition of paintings by the likes of Manet, which are today considered masterpieces, yet at the time were rejected from the prestigious annual Paris Salon art awards for being too unconventional.
Delta des Refusés will be challenging the jurors of the Arkansas Art Center Delta Exhibition by showcasing the work of more than 80 aspiring artists whose works were rejected from the exhibition. With the mission of advocating the importance of art in the educational and personal development of children and young people, the Thea Foundation aims to make art more accessible for teachers and students across Arkansas.
The exhibition will be held at the foundation at 401 Main Street, North Little Rock, from June 17 to July 17, 9 a.m. -5 p.m, Monday through Friday. There will be an opening reception with free admission from 5-8 p.m on Friday, June 17, all are welcome.
