Registration Now Open for Culinary Classes at Winthrop Rockefeller Institute

How often do we open our pantries and refrigerators, stare, stare some more, then shut the door thinking, “there is nothing to eat?”

If you’re looking for inspo or want to sharpen your culinary skills at home to impress the spouse and the family, sign up for one of the four cooking classes offered at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. 

Its 2016 culinary series covers a range of eats with classes that suit foodies, newbies and everyone in between.

Here’s a look at the lineup: 

Saturday Chef Series 
This is the Institute’s newest series, which offers a three-hour class that combines demonstration and hands-on cooking to help brush up on basic cooking methods and techniques. Next year’s themes include: 
  • Hot Breakfast
  • Pasta, Pasta
  • The Cheaper Chicken
  • Holiday Desserts and Confections

Chef’s Tasting Dinner
Designed for couples or pairs, this event features 10-15 “tasting courses” that revolve around a central theme, complete with wine pairings. Four Chef’s Tasting Dinners are on the calendar for next year:
  • Taste of Titanic
  • Taste of Brazil
  • Taste of Italy
  • A Victorian Christmas

Made From Scratch
In these demonstration-only classes, you’ll learn how to make a delicious dish from simple ingredients. (And you’ll get to sample the menu, too.) The 2016 Made From Scratch lineup includes such classes as:

  • One-Pot Meals
  • Terrific Tailgating
  • Healthy Substitutions
 
Table for Two
Enjoy some downtime with your significant other, or even a close friend, while learning how to make a delicious meal for two. Classes that are back by popular demand include:
  • Rosemary Shrimp Scampi
  • Grilled Ribeye
  • Lemon-Butter Orange Roughy
  • Asiago Chicken
