Holiday shopping can be rough. Not only is it difficult to pick things out for people, but it’s especially tough to spend exorbitant amounts and still keep a global mindset. Those two things don’t always harmonize.

How about gifts you can feel even better about giving, while still checking off your list? The Living Gift Markets held in December at Heifer Village in Little Rock and the Heifer Ranch in Perryville have exactly what you’re looking for, as well as an opportunity to honor your friends and family with gifts that keep on giving — really.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, stop by the Heifer Village to shop fairly traded gifts from around the world, meet some of the animals from their Gift Catalog and even make snow globe or sock bunny ornament to take home.

If you’ve never visited the Heifer Ranch, it’s worth the drive. They’re hosting a holiday weekend Dec. 13, 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14, 3-6 p.m. You can visit and take photos with animals in the show barn and enjoy hot drinks and snacks by the fire while decorating cookies. Before you leave, make sure you visit the gift shop and learn how animals empower families around the world to change their lives.
