Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Mount Holly Cemetery on the outskirts of Little Rock's Quapaw Quarter is the final resting place for numerous governors, senators, Confederate generals, and in this case, bankers.

Spooky Series: Hitchcocktoberfest, Family-Friendly Classics & "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Where: Ron Robinson Theater

When: Hitchcocktoberfest - Tuesdays in October, 7 p.m.; Classics - Fridays, 7 p.m.; "Rocky Horror" - Fridays, 9:30 p.m.

Why: Being around exotic animals in the dark is eerie, but getting in on spooky games and s'mores is a real scream — especially when nights have special themes like Star Wars and fairy tales. More here.

The Dance of Death Halloween Celebration

Tales of the Crypt

Where: Mount Holly Cemetery

When: Oct. 8, 6-8 p.m.

Why: Forget the creepy, this annual event is all about the crypt's history. Stroll the cemetery grounds and hear the tales of locals past from the Parkview Theatre department. More here.

 

Halloween Costume Contest

Where: Stone's Throw Stifft Station

When: Oct. 31, 6 p.m.

Why: Nothing like a good, old-fashioned costume contest to get the creative (and creepy) juices flowing. Kids, adults, pets, scary, funny — all are welcome to compete and load up on candy. More here.

 

Carnival Bizarre

Where: Argenta Community Theater

When: Oct. 18 & 19, 8 p.m.

Why: Back for its third year, this Arkansas Circus Arts event combines circus, drag, sideshow and burlesque theatrics for a night of spine-tingling fun. More here.

 

Halloween Happenings

Where: Outlets of Little Rock

Why: Load up the kiddos and get your candy gathering on while helping out The Salvation Army while you're at it. More here.
