Photos: St. Patrick’s Day in Central Arkansas

It was quite a green celebration this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day!

LittleRockSoiree.com photographer Mark Wagner was able to capture some of the action from Little Rock’s annual parade and block party downtown Saturday (March 15) and the famous World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hot Springs yesterday (March 17).

Despite the rain that blanketed much of the area Saturday, the 15th Annual Rock to North Little Rock St. Patrick’s Day— put on by the Irish Cultural Society of Arkansas (ICSA)– got underway at 4th and Rock Street in downtown Little Rock, passing Dugan’s Irish Pub and crossing the Arkansas River via the Main Street Bridge, passing Cregeen’s Irish Pub, and traveling through the Argenta Arts District. It featured clowns, Irish Wolfhounds, antique cars, decorative floats and more, with entertainment following the parade from two marching bagpipe bands and traditional Irish dance performances by the McCafferty and O’Donovan Schools of Irish Dance.

All day long, many made it out to the 3rd Street Merchants St. Patrick’s Block Party despite the soppy weather conditions. In addition to good old fashioned beer drinking, partiers enjoyed entertainment from the Step Dancers from the McCafferty School of Irish Dance & the O’Donnovan School of Irish Dance, The Little Rock Pipe and Drum Corp, The Carnie Barkers and Barrett Baber, Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism’s “Song of Arkansas” winner
