An exciting return for the arts begins with a classic this week as “Our Town” opens at the Argenta Community Theater, kicking off the seventh annual Acansa Arts Festival of the South.
Since its debut on Broadway in 1938, “Our Town” has earned multiple awards (including a Pulitzer Prize) and icon status for its depiction of life, love and death in the small town of Grover’s Corners.
The show is directed by Ben Grimes, who also directed ACT’s well-received production of “A Streetcar Named Desire” as part of the 2019 Acansa festival.
“Our Town” is the sixth in ACT’s 2021-2022 lineup, dubbed its “Grand Re-Opening Season.” Preview performances begin Wednesday, March 9, with the show running through March 19. Masks and proof of vaccination or negative test are required. Visit the ACT website for more details.
The show kicks off two weeks of Acansa events taking place around the metro, a wide-ranging roster that includes comedy acts, dance and lots of music featuring performers from across the country.
