Oscar de la Renta, Anna Wintour Attend Event at Clinton Presidential Center

The Clinton Presidential Center hosted a number of all-star guests at a special invitation-only soirée Monday (July 8) to celebrate the museum’s newest exhibit, “Oscar de la Renta: American Icon”.

Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, longtime Vogue editor Anna Wintour, former American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine André Leon Talley, President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Barbara Walters and Alice Walton were just a few of the special guests in attendance.

The evening kicked off at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Clinton Center’s reception area. The doors to the Great Hall opened at 6 p.m., after which President Clinton welcomed the crowd. Remarks by Chelsea Clinton, Anna Wintour and Hillary Clinton followed and a special video tribute featuring André Leon Talley, Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour honored Oscar de la Renta for his remarkable impact on the fashion industry.

Following the video, de la Renta addressed the audience; Executive Director of the Clinton Foundation Stephanie Streett made closing remarks. Guests then had the opportunity to mingle and tour the Oscar de la Renta exhibit and other exhibits currenty on display.

This Oscar de la Renta fashion exhibit features more than 30 of his iconic creations worn by leading arbiters of style, from First Ladies to Hollywood’s brightest stars. The exhibit is on display at the Clinton Presidential Center now through Dec. 1.
