Opus Ball

The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Grand Ball, Opus XXIX, was held at the historic Capital Hotel. Beginning at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception featuring a signature drink and a selection of hors d’oeuvres created by the Capital Hotel culinary team. A silent action offered an array of items and packages for event-goers to bid on. A gourmet dinner followed, along with live entertainment by members of the ASO Orchestra and the ASO Youth Orchestra. Emcee Craig O’Neill and auctioneer Gaylen McGee kicked off the premier live auction, after which guests relaxed with friends in the Capital Bar & Grill and the hotel lobby. Around midnight, a late-night snack was served before guests retired to their rooms. A Southern-inspired breakfast was prepared at Ashley’s the following morning. Susan and Nick Brown served as event co-chairs for the ball, which was presented by American Airlines, Bank of the Ozarks and the Capital Hotel, among others. With 475 guests in attendance, the event raised over $470,000 for ASO programs.
