Opus Ball has a new venue — starting in 2016.
Opus, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s annual black tie fundraiser, will be the first event to ever take place in the brand new ballroom of the Robinson Center Music Hall.
The ballroom, which overlooks the Arkansas River and Broadway Bridge, is part of the massive, 25-month, $70 million renovation of the historic performing arts center. The Robinson Center is right on schedule and on budget to be completed in November 2016.
The ASO also announced Thursday that Chip and Cindy Murphy are the chairs for the 2016 Opus Ball, which will take place Nov. 12, 2016.
This year’s event is taking place this weekend at the Capital Hotel, and the annual gala features dinner, live and silent auctions, music and dancing.
The renovations include two balconies of seating, a larger lobby, improved acoustics and more.
“The renovations of Robinson will be wonderful for not only our patrons, but our musicians as well,” said Christina Littlejohn, executive director of the ASO. “Hosting next year’s Opus Ball in this beautiful new space is very special for us and our guests. From everything we can tell, the ballroom is going to be a truly exceptional space for large events such as Opus Ball.”
The countdown starts now — only 364 days until we can go and see!
