January lasted forever, February is flying by and March is right around the corner, bringing with it Women’s History Month. And for locals looking to mark the occasion with flair, they don’t need to look further than the Old State House Museum.
The Arkansas Women’s History Month Festival is set for Saturday, Feb. 29, to kick off the month with the theme “HERstory in the 1980s.” Hosted by the Arkansas Women’s History Institute (AWHI), the fest will take a look at “the socioeconomic, political and cultural contributions of Arkansas women in the 1980s.”
The ’80s ladies bash features free events for the whole family, including karaoke, video games, ice cream, lawn games and a photo booth.
“The 2020 Women’s History Month Festival will give attendees an opportunity to learn about notable contributions and achievements of Arkansas women in the recent past and enjoy fun and educational 1980s-inspired activities,” event committee chair Rachel Patton says.
AWHI, which was founded in the ’80s, is a nonprofit that works to shine a light on the contributions women have made in the development of the state. Learn more at the AWHI website.
The fest lasts from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Old State House Museum. For more information, check out the Facebook event page.
