New Mural Coming to Main St.

We’ve got more Main St. news and this time it comes with a side of eye candy.

Bennett’s Military Supplies at 608 Main St. will soon be the home of a brand new mural by Little Rock artist Matt McLeod. You might remember McLeod from his live painting as a presenting artist at the Acansa festivities last September.

The 3,700-SF mural, which is in the heart of downtown’s new Creative Corridor, will be of giant, bright koi fish. The now blank wall faces what will soon be the home of McLeod’s gallery and Ballet Arkansas in the Arkansas Building, next door to the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and adjacent to The Rep.

Sponsored by an ArtPlace America grant, this breath of fresh air (or water?) is slated for completion in May, so keep your eyes peeled for progress. Actually, if it turns out at all as incredible as the mockups, you won’t be able to miss it.

Below is one of McLeod’s koi paintings, a sneak preview of what’s to come. Follow him on Facebook for more.
