New Clinton Center Program Debuts with Focus on Quapaw

Their name is no stranger to the city, but a new program debuts with the indigenous Quapaw tribe in the spotlight.

The Clinton Presidential Center recently announced a new program titled Fusion: Arts + Humanities Arkansas. The purpose of Fusion is to “[promote] heritage and culture and celebrates human achievement by weaving the arts and humanities together.”

The inaugural event on Sunday, Feb. 12, features a rare look at the Quapaw tribe in Arkansas. Chairman of the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma John Berrey will address visitors, as will colonial Arkansas historian and author Judge Morris S. Arnold, followed by a demonstration by Quapaw dancers.

Fusion begins at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. To make yours, click here or call (501) 748-0425.

If you can’t make it to the celebration, you can view an accompanying exhibit displaying Quapaw cultural artifacts at the Clinton Center through March 12.

The Clinton Center is located at 1200 President Clinton Ave., and operating hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information on this and more upcoming Clinton Center programs, visit the center’s website and follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
