New Brew on the Block: Buffalo Brewing Co.

After playing coach/equipment manager for nearly two years, The Water Buffalo is finally getting into the craft brewing game.

Located at 106 S. Rodney Parham, The Water Buffalo is a supply store for beer, wine, cheese and gardening hobbyists opened by Little Rock native Nolen Buffalo in November 2014. The shop also offers free classes to those interested in joining the maker scene.

But now Buffalo is putting his own supplies and some extra square footage to delicious use by launching Buffalo Brewing Co. Operating out of a small addition built behind the store, a taproom will be located inside the main shop featuring original Buffalo Brewing beers and other local brews, offering about 20 in total.

Some of those spots on tap will be opened up for head-of-the-class home brewers as a chance to get some much needed, yet difficult to come by experience.

“It’s not the brewer that’s certified; it’s the brewery,” Buffalo told our sister publication, Arkansas Business. “And as long as we’re overseeing and we’re doing everything in accordance with the law and Health Department standards, then we can have a guest brewer come in and make a beer.”

If all goes according to plan, Buffalo Brewing Co. could be in business by Labor Day.
