Today is National Wear Red Day for American Heart Association

“It’s not just a man’s disease.”

That’s the message the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women has been trying to get out for years. You probably know the red dress as the symbol of the fight against heart disease and stroke in women.

On the first Friday in February, the symbol comes to life with National Wear Red Day. If you want to get involved, it’s just that simple: Wear red. Show your support for saving women’s lives with just the color of your getup.

Then comes the best part, the part where you share the news. Get on social media and show the world how you #GoRed. When people ask you what it means, tell them. Tell them that heart disease and stroke kill a third of women, despite being 80 percent preventable.

Then tell them to go to GoRedForWomen.org and donate to help raise funds for awareness and research.

Look for us in red.
