Mother’s Day: 13 Ways to Celebrate Your Mom

Brunch

  • Mother’s Day Bluegrass Brunch at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock. Starting at 11 a.m. Sunday (May 11), bring your mom for some Southern fare and enjoy bluegrass tunes from the award-winning Rhonda Vincent and the Rage!   • Brunch at Capers, 14502 Cantrell Road, Little Rock. Seatings begin at 11 a.m. and go until 2 p.m. with a special menu that includes fabulous brunch items and entrees, special appetizers, salads and desserts to celebrate the day. Call (501) 868-7600 to make a reservation.
  • Brunch, 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Arlington Resort Hotel, Hot Springs. Say thanks to your mother at an elegant buffet in the Venetian Room with a pianist providing entertainment.   • Brunch at Wyndham Riverfront, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, 2 Riverfront Place, North Little Rock. Treat mom to an elaborate brunch that includes an omelet and waffle station, soups, salads, entrees (chicken carbonara, shrimp Creole over rice), a carving station with steamship round of beef and Petit Jean ham, plus vegetables, cheeses, fresh fruits and desserts.   • New Orleans Brunch Buffet at Copeland’s, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 2602 S. Shackleford Rd., Little Rock. Have a unique New Orleans-style brunch buffet with your mom that includes a huge selection of delicious authentic New Orleans-inspired dishes.   • Mother’s Day “Downton Abbey” Grand High Tea, 3 p.m. Sunday, Empress of Little Rock, 2120 S. Louisiana S. Mom will enjoy Grand High Tea at this elegant Victorian inn with chicken salad on croissant, cucumber on pumpernickel bread, grilled Brie with fig preserves on homemade bread, clotted cream, lemon curd and three different types of specialty desserts, special Empress tea and their signature chocolate-covered cherries. Cruisin’

  • Mother’s Day Lake Cruise, 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Treat your mother to a relaxing boat ride on Lake Maumelle near the base of Pinnacle Mountain. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6-12. Reservations are required. Call (501) 868-5806.
  • Mother’s Day Voyage on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Take mom on a cruise down the Arkansas River and enjoy a yummy buffet lunch. Boarding will start at 12:30 p.m. and the buffet lunch and the cruise will run from 1-3 p.m. Cost is $45. Call (501) 372-5777 for reservations.

  • Take mom to the theater for a little comedy. The Arkansas Repertory Theatre‘s comedic production “The Second City” is running until Saturday (May 10).   • Satisfy that sweet tooth. The Green Corner Store, 1423 Main St., Little Rock, is hosting Zara’s Dessert Counter Takeover from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday (May 10). Zara Abbasi Wilkerson, the pastry chef of Natchez, will be taking over the soda fountain and turning it into a dessert counter. Yummy! Her scrumptious whole cakes will be available for sale– this includes Nutella, chocolate fudge, coconut lime, white chocolate cardamom and lemon salted caramel.
