The Arkansas Parks and Recreation Foundation announced an impressive addition to the state’s mountain biking scene. Monument Trails are set to open in several state parks starting June 2019, including here in Little Rock.
In addition to mountain biking opportunities, the trails will also connect people with nature through hiking, camping and fishing. The Monument Trails will feature purpose-built art and architectural features, special camping spaces and overlooks to view some of the state’s most scenic vistas.
“The Monument Trails are designed with an entire family in mind. The simple goal is to provide an unforgettable experience along the trail that will inspire you to seek, find and discover our state and build a sense of pride and appreciation,” said Suzanne Grobmyer, executive director of the Arkansas Parks and Recreation Foundation. “The Monument Trails are going to change the dynamic for communities across the state by improving quality of life and creating new economic activity.”

The first Monument Trail will open in June at Hobbs State Park. Work is already underway to develop designs and future plans in 2019, including trails at Pinnacle Mountain State Park, Mount Nebo State Park in Dardanelle and Devil’s Den State Park in northwest Arkansas.
