Michael Church Takes Center Stage at Thea’s Art Department

After successfully kicking off the 2016 season with a bang, Thea Foundation’s Art Department is back, and this time with artist Michael Church in the spotlight.

In this month’s installment, the young professionals series opens with a reception for Church’s new exhibition “Succinct” on Friday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Thea Foundation in North Little Rock.

Working in collage, Church has been featured nationally in publications including Satellite Magazine and Kolaj Magazine, and his most recent show was a joint exhibition with renowned artist V.L. Cox.

“The urgent connection between creation and destruction is on display within the pieces I’ve broken apart then reconnected,” Church said about his work. “It is in this space that I speak of the world around me and to the voice within myself simultaneously. I have a strong desire to confront myself through artistic ventures.”

The reception is $10 and includes food, an open beer and wine bar, live music by A Rowdy Faith and the chance to win an original work by Church.

The Thea Foundation gallery’s hours are 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. on Monday – Friday, and is located at 401 Main St. in North Little Rock. For more information, call (501)-379-9512 or visit the Facebook event page.
