Tyrun A. Haynie
Director of Emergency Preparedness, UAMS Department of Public Safety
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Transitioning from a Fortune 500 career in asset protection to serving in the largest regional health care systems in Arkansas supporting emergency responses, earning the 2023 Staff Excellence Mentorship in Administration Award for Excellence and becoming a published author and motivational speaker.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
The National Alumni Association of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff/AM&N is a network dedicated to scholarships, mentorship and creating a pipeline for past graduates to connect with fellow alumni while advancing the university’s mission and supporting future leaders.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
“Never stop preparing. Your preparation today creates opportunities tomorrow.” I also learned to always support others, even when it’s not your time. Success is bigger than self. It’s about lifting people up while you keep moving forward.
HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
I realized my leadership could impact people’s lives and help them develop. Guiding others to grow, protecting communities and creating opportunities showed me this was more than a career. It was a calling rooted in service, mentorship and leadership.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
At Lowe’s, working in loss prevention taught me discipline, accountability and the importance of protecting company assets and ensuring safety. That foundation shaped my leadership style and taught me never to get complacent, always striving for career growth.
