Operating Partner, JTJ Restaurants
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
I love the rush of the restaurant business. It’s so fulfilling when you’re packed to the gills and the cards are down, then you put the restaurant on your back and ensure success through sheer will.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Working my tail off to become a partner and get “sweat equity.” Now, I’m a partner at six restaurants with JTJ.
ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
After a long week, I love to sit on my patio with my lovely wife and play fetch with our dogs, usually with a nice glass of scotch in my non-throwing hand.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
One time, when I was overwhelmed and stressed at work, an old boss of mine told me, “Brent, we’re just serving food and drinks.” Although a simple statement, it really helps me to keep things in perspective.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
Picking up rocks in a field for a construction company. Eventually, I was promoted to picking up chunks of brick after masons. I realized pretty quickly that manual labor wasn’t for me and got into restaurants.
IN THE DETAILS:

Favorite Local Purchase: My restaurant investments
Little Rock’s Hidden Gem: Probably not so hidden, but I love Sonny Williams’

Favorite Local Dish: I eat entirely too many wings at Waldo’s Chicken & Beer.
Hobbies: I am in a bowling league and also enjoy playing golf rather poorly.
