Men on a Mission 2024: Madhav Shroff

Madhav Shroff
Equity Officer, Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation

BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN MY CAREER
Shifting from practicing law to philanthropy. Adapting from a legal environment to a systems-focused space required learning new skills while staying committed to equity and justice.

ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
Setting clear boundaries between work and personal life. This helps me stay present with my family, recharge and avoid burnout, ensuring I bring my best self to both areas.

ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
WRF is more than a grantmaker. We relentlessly pursue equity, focusing on ALICE (Asset-Limited Income Constrained, Employed) families who work but still struggle financially. Through collaboration and innovation, we address root causes to create an Arkansas that works for everyone.

NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
City Year Little Rock. As a former AmeriCorps member and now board member, I’ve seen firsthand how they are committed to equitable, quality education in central Arkansas while building leadership and teaching skills.

IN THE DETAILS:
Hometown: Hot Springs
Favorite Local Purchase: Music Together classes at Hillcrest Family Music
Little Rock’s Hidden Gem: Bawarchi Biryanis
Sunday Routine: Setting my fantasy football lineup, meal prepping and fending off the Sunday scaries
Favorite Local Dish: Harvest Moon ice cream at Loblolly
Hobbies: Walking my dogs, spending time with my wife, cooking, playing/reading/dancing with my daughter
