John S. Daniels
Director of Athletics, Little Rock School District
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Integrity begins with showing up and being punctual. It’s a non-negotiable standard, as all other aspects of professionalism stem from this foundation. Success starts by waking up, getting up and taking action.
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
What drives me daily is knowing that athletics instills lifelong skills in students: discipline, work ethic, sportsmanship and communication. These values not only shape their success in sports, but also equip them with tools essential for life’s challenges.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
After seven years of dedicated effort by my team and me, I’m proud to announce that the Little Rock School District Board of Directors approved a long-overdue stipend increase for coaches, the first since 1985, in September 2024.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
Scouting cotton as a young man instilled in me a strong work ethic and the drive to pursue greater opportunities. It emphasized the importance of developing a purposeful career plan and shaped my approach to personal and professional growth.
