Men on a Mission 2024: Allen Westlake

Allen Westlake
President, Westlake Plumbing & Benjamin Franklin Plumbing

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Company-customer alignment is important. When an organization’s values and the customer’s values are well matched, there is extreme symmetry and synergy. If there is no balance, there is frustration for all.

LESSON I LEARNED THE HARD WAY
I am not the best with specific details. I easily see the bigger picture, so I value the people around me who are gifted in planning how we get there. They are critical to anything I hope to accomplish.

ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
Awareness of what I bring to a situation. I have discovered that if I can quickly check in with myself, most of my emotional challenges can be handled at the lowest level before they spill over and affect others.

A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
Geometry! The Pythagorean Theorem. Simplest way to see if a foundation is out of square.
