BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Never confuse activity with results. Just because someone seems hair-on-fire busy all the time doesn’t necessarily mean they’re generating important, measurable achievements. Set expectations, ensure accountability and tie consequences to performance.
MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
Copy boy (gofer) at the Arkansas Gazette. It taught me that even menial tasks are important to the success of a larger mission and that people appreciate those willing to do the little things with a smile on their face.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Quapaw Quarter Association. Little Rock is full of historically significant buildings that deserve to be preserved and rehabilitated. We’ve lost too many already. The QQA is working to reverse that trend. Its work is important!
ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
Everyone knows the Museum of Discovery is fun. They need to realize that it plays an important role in the STEM education and workforce pipelines and is worthy of their support.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Learning so much about business, financials, leadership and the importance of a positive workplace culture from Charles Morgan and his leadership team during my nine years at Acxiom. And, oh yeah, the joy of trips on a Dassault-Falcon jet!
