Men on a Mission 2023: Josh Wilson, Ph.D.

WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
Absolutely the purpose of the work. Many people with developmental disabilities require 24/7 support and some have no family. A lot of people would not be able to live at home without the support of our team members.

BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN MY CAREER
Reducing the stigma often associated with disabilities. Negative perception drives the marginalization of people. We help people gain valued social roles like holding a job or being an active community member to offset this effect.

MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
During my first real job washing dishes for a restaurant, I learned that all jobs in an organization are important, that making a living requires hard work and that I did not want to wash dishes as a career.

BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
Entrust your life to God through faith in His Son, Jesus; study God’s Word daily and pray about everything.

ONE THING I WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT MY COMPANY
That our overall purpose is to help people remain in the home they love by providing hands-on support through a culture centered around kindness, compassion, empathy and treating others how we want to be treated.
