MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
My first jobs were working retail in a fishing store and working construction (pouring/finishing concrete). Both were very different and very valuable. Retail taught me how to work with people and construction taught me a lot about hard work.
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
Our clients, and the ABCBS team I have the privilege to work beside. Working with such innovative client partners who make a difference for their employees is so rewarding. In regards to my team, their dedication and expertise are unmatched.
ONE PRACTICE I USE TO MAINTAIN MY MENTAL HEALTH
Concentrating on being present, where I am. It is so easy to be distracted today with work concerns at home, family concerns at work, social media, etc. I really try to focus on being in the moment, where I stand.
BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
My dad and mom always had a favorite saying for my brother and me growing up: “If it was easy, everyone would do it.”
THE FIRST THING I DO TO COURSE CORRECT WHEN I HIT A WALL
I try to look past the obstacles that others have laid in front of me. I usually find that moving an initiative forward is better achieved by honestly looking at the obstacles I may have created within.
