Men on a Mission 2021: Antoine Lucas

NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
SPP is a great company of exceptional people that work together to responsibly and economically keep the lights on today and in the future! Reliable and affordable electricity is essential to the public’s safety, health and way of life.

WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
The power industry is very challenging and teamwork is paramount to success. I am committed to the team of people I work with and feel responsible to be present and active in contributing to the team’s success.

WHAT KEEPS ME MOTIVATED
I have a network of friends and family that have supported me and sacrificed things in their own lives to help me reach my full potential and realize my dreams. I want to make those people proud!

A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
As an engineer, my formal education was technical in nature. However, effective communication has become more valuable than any technical skills I’ve learned as my career has advanced. People really need to understand one another to get big things done!

THE FIRST THING I DO TO COURSE CORRECT WHEN I HIT A WALL
Stop and think about the purpose of what I’m working on in the grand scheme of things. This helps me refocus and think more clearly and creatively about alternative approaches to address the challenge.
