Why did you choose to get into financial advising?
I’ve been investing for 35 years. I wanted to help other people reach their financial goals and enjoy the really important things in life, like family and friends! You can take advantage of my experience. I started writing a stock market newsletter, “The McGehee Report,” 20 years ago. The subscribers wanted me to manage money for them. Plus, I love picking stocks.
What sets yours apart from other firms?
McGehee Capital Management is a fee-only registered investment advisory firm. I’m not trying to sell products. I have a fiduciary responsibility to my clients. My firm is not too big, yet you’ll receive all the support you need from an investment advisory firm. Clients’ portfolios are automatically adjusted the older they become. I’ve developed The McGehee Trend Turn Indicator. No other firm has this tool.
What do you like best about your job?
Nothing is more satisfying than helping others meet their financial goals and knowing my clients can sleep better and enjoy life with their family and friends. Every client has become a friend, and I like that! Choosing stocks that could be entering new uptrends is so exciting. Following the companies and watching their growth is kind of like having children.
Do you have a niche clientele?
I invest for individuals, companies, endowments, trusts, retirement accounts, etc. So no niche – I like to help everybody.
Is there anything you’d like to tell Soirée readers?
If you have an investable portfolio of $300,000 or more, I’d be glad, for a limited time, to review it for you at no charge or obligation.
What’s your investment philosophy?
Picking stocks that go up. We “invest for the new millennium” in growth stocks at a reasonable price, with some old-school value stocks mixed in for balance. Market timing? Absolutely! It’s the prudent thing to do. I’ve never known a person who wanted to be 100% invested while the market corrects. I like to find new sectors to invest in before most, and I use technical chart analysis to a great degree.
How many hours do you work a week? 50+
Two hobbies outside of work: Time with family/friends, because that’s what really matters in life, and traveling with my camera, with a little golf mixed in
Best financial advice you’ve ever been given: Stay invested in the stock market for the long haul! There’s no better way for Americans to grow their wealth over time.
