Meet the 2016 Arkansas Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees

There was a collective cheer across the land last year when the Arkansas Women’s Hall of Fame was born. The inaugural 11 inductees were announced from the steps of the state Capitol Building as the beginning of a new and powerful tradition.

Now, the AWHOF has officially announced nine inductees to its 2016 class, which will be honored from 6-9 p.m on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.

This year’s inductees are:

  • Kay Kelley Arnold
  • Cathy Cunningham
  • Dr. M. Joycelyn Elders
  • Lottie Shackelford
  • Patti Upton
  • Pat Walker
  • Dr. Bettye Caldwell
  • Dr. Betty Lowe
  • Religious Sisters of Mercy of the Americas

“We consider this second class to be a good complement to last year’s inaugural class,” Nan Snow, president of the AWHOF board, told our sister publication Arkansas Business. “We realize that there are many women that deserve this honor, and it is our hope that in the years to come we recognize all of them.”
