LRCVB Unveils Life-Size Little Rock Postcards at Landmarks

Your selfie game is about to get a whole lot stronger.

On Tuesday, as part of the National Travel and Tourism Week (May 2-10), the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a Travel Rally Day at the La Petite Roche Plaza in Riverfront Park.

LRCVB President and CEO Gretchen Hall, Arkansas Dept. of Parks & Tourism Executive Director Richard Davies and Little Rock Vice Mayor Lance Hines hosted a crowd of red-clad onlookers—red being the official color that symbolizes “unity among travel and tourism professionals and supporters”).

At the rally, officials unveiled one of three permanent postcard-inspired installments, providing locals and visitors some pretty sweet photo ops with famous Little Rock landmarks serving as backdrops. The life-size postcards are set up at the Junction Bridge, the Clinton Presidential Library and the Big Dam Bridge.

The LRCVB is also right in the middle of a week-long social media treasure hunt based around the hashtag #WishYouWereHere. Look for their posts with clues for different Little Rock spots. The first person to post a selfie with the attraction and the hashtag wins a prize, and will be entered for a chance to with the Little Rock Treasure grand prize.

According to the Arkansas Dept. of Parks & Tourism 2014-2015 Annual Report, tourism provided 12,644 jobs, hosted more than 5.7 million visitors and brought in more than $1.67 billion in travel dollars in Pulaski County alone.

Our favorite quote from the U.S. Travel Rally Day came from Davies:

“Arkansas is on a roll, folks.”

Now it’s your turn to rollin’ on down to the river and take some photos with the new postcards. Use the hashtags #LittleRock and #WishYouWereHere, share your pics on social media and make your out-of-state friends jealous.
