Three cheers for Dominik Mjartan!
The chief executive of Little Rock’s Southern Bancorp Community Partners was just named to the list of “40 Under 40: Young Leaders Who Are Solving the Problems of Today — and Tomorrow” by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Mjartan was recognized for the SBCP’s work to transform communities in Arkansas and Mississippi. The nonprofit builds economic opportunities and provides financial services for those who need it most.
He originally came to the Delta as a high school exchange student from Czechoslovakia. “I came to this country with a few dollars and have lived the American Dream,” Mjartan told The Chronicle. “So I’m very interested in how to make that available and accessible to every child in America.”
Mjartan joins a lineup from across the country in the philanthropic list, which includes the likes of Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi—the women behind the Black Lives Matter movement—as well as the Internet’s royal couple: Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg.
