Exercise and training website RunnersWorld.com recently put together a list of the “coolest” race medals in the world, and Little Rock Marathon’s epic two-and-a-half-pound medal for 2014 was one of ten that made it. And our readers show us why!

The medals, which are 8 1/4 inches in diameter, have grown larger every year since the marathon’s inception in 2003. The marathon made 3,000 of the medals for the race on March 2, and had to have specialized racks to hold the 7,500-pound collection. Everyone who finshes the race receives a medal and they should after running more than 26 miles. (You are our heroes.)
2013’s medal also received recognition, as it was named one of the top 25 medals of 2013 by Marathon & Beyond magazine.
Interested in earning a medal for 2015? Registration begins Aug. 1 on the marathon’s website.
Here are medals from previous years that also deserve a shout-out.
