Practicing safe social distancing doesn’t have to mean you’re alone. The Little Rock Marathon just debuted a new Run Arkansas Virtual Challenge as a way to stay connected (and healthy) during this global pandemic.
Here’s how it works:
- Register for the challenge. The cost is $30 and includes a T-shirt or tank top.
- This isn’t required, but the Little Rock Marathon encourages particiapnts to set up an account on Strava and then join their private Strava club. Instructions will be sent in your confirmation email.
- Join either the beginner or intermediate Challenge Hound group to track your total mileage.
- Run, walk, jog, saunter or mosey to accumulate the most miles on foot in six weeks. Track the Challenge Hound leaderboards in categories like most distance, most elevation gain, most consistency and most dedication. Every step counts.
- Submit your best time for the prescribed distance from one activity each week into the virtual results. Your distance has to be at least as long as the distance of the week, but it’s okay if it’s longer.
The Little Rock Marathon will also pick a random winner from each category to win a prize from a local company that has supported the race community over the years. Participants must upload results before Sunday at midnight to be eligible for the weekly prize.
The challenge lasts from April 13 – May 24. For more info and to register, head to the Run Arkansas Virtual Challenge website.
