Little Rock Long Weekend Guide: Aug. 29 – Sept. 2

A three-day weekend is just what the doctor ordered, and there’s plenty of local fun in store. Let’s get into it.

Thursday, Aug. 29

Arkansas Razorbacks Season Opener at War Memorial Stadium // There’s only one Hogs football game in Little Rock, and when it’s the first of the season, the whole town will be seeing Razorback red. Devoted tailgaters can get an early start on a first-come basis starting at 10 a.m., or roll in when gates open at 5 p.m. for the Hogs’ 6:30 p.m. kickoff against the UA Pine Bluff Golden Lions. Learn more here.

Bonus: Lots of locals are getting in on the Hogs fun this weekend — like Bark Bar’s watch party — so keep an eye out.

Saturday, Aug. 31

Last Little Rock Farmers Market at the River Market Pavilions // Not sure how we got here already, but it’s officially the end of this market’s 50th anniversary season. Saturday wraps up four months of local produce, foods, crafts and more. Stop in anytime from 7 a.m. -2 p.m. Learn more here.

The pavilions are still the place to be: Jazz in the Park Announces Fall Lineup

Family Fun Day at Pettaway Square // With the back-to-school rush behind us and a long weekend ahead, some fun for the whole fam is in order. Lucky for us, the Pettaway neighborhood is on the same page with a lineup that includes games, a water slide, photo station and eats from Smashed ‘n’ Stacked, Moody Brews and Pettaway Coffee, plus lots more. Stop by 2-7 p.m. Learn more here.

The 48 Hour Film Project Premiere & Award Ceremony at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts // Back in July, teams went on a quest to create award-winning short films in just 48 hours. Now, you can watch the best-of-the-best works and find out who will take home top honors. The “Red Carpet Affair” begins at 2 p.m. Learn more here.

Monday, Sept. 2

Labor Day Sunrise Hike at Pinnacle Mountain State Park // Starting the holiday with the best views around? Yes, please. Get your blood pumping with this early morning hike starting at the West Summit Trailhead and led by a park interpreter. The trek starts at 5:30 a.m. Learn more here.

Labor Day Pancake Run at Fleet Feet // No one does a three-day weekend quite like this WLR running store. This yearly fun run is back and with a pancake cookoff waiting for you at the finish line. Even better: All proceeds will go to Girls on the Run. Start time is 7 a.m. Learn more here.
