Lunch time has passed and you want to have a late-afternoon meeting with clients or staff. So, where do you go?
Here are four hot spots around downtown Little Rock that offer delicious treats in a great environment:
- Boulevard Bake House and Market, 1417 S. Main St.: This delicious eatery in the heart of the South Main (SoMa) district is a perfect place for meetings, offering award-winning fresh breads and pastries, as well delicious coffee and tons of drinks, including my favorite — San Pellegrino Sparkling beverages. By noon, it’s jam-packed for lunch, but by 1 p.m., it slows down and is pretty quiet. There is also a small patio out front. Parking is easy and the hours are great– it’s open until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (501) 375-5100 for more information about offerings and specials of the day.
- 4Square Cafe & Gifts, 405 President Clinton Ave.: Across from the River Market, the vegan/vegetarian eatery is a great spot for late-afternoon get-togethers. Not only do they have all-natural smoothies and milkshakes, but they also offer a variety of bottled and fountain drinks, as well as desserts and healthy snacks. It’s nice and quiet in the late afternoon and don’t worry about the time– 4Square is open until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 9 p.m. Friday.
- Cafe@Heifer, #1 World Ave.: The cool eatery is nestled inside the Heifer World Headquarters, offering fresh, local fare for patrons. It’s a popular lunch spot, but also is a great meeting ground for those after-lunch appointments. There are always fresh soups, baked treats and other goodies if you’re hankering for a little snack during the meeting, not to mention a variety of drinks to choose from, all for reasonable prices. The cafe, situated in the southern corner of the headquarters’ main building, is surrounded by windows and a beautiful landscape. If the weather is nice, you can also sit out on the patio. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (501) 907-8801 and follow it on Facebook page for updates on specials of the day.
- Slick’s Sandwich Shop, 101 E. Capitol, Ste. 116: Located on the first level of the big government office building on the corner of Capitol and Main Street, this little eatery serves up homemade sweet treats like brownies, cookies and cinnamon rolls, and offers fountain drinks, coffee, cappucino and a variety of bottled drinks, as well as packaged snacks. And what’s great about the eatery is the space — there’s plenty of room to convene for a large or small meeting. Slick’s is open until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (501) 375-3420 for more information on offerings.
