It’s a big weekend for the Wildwood Park for the Arts. The annual Lanterns! Festival returns this weekend as “Arkansas’ only deep-winter outdoor festival.”
Now it its seventh year, this nighttime occasion that is held during the first full moon of the lunar is one that has quickly become a Little Rock favorite. The 105 acres of parkland are lit with luminaries and fire pits, winding around the six areas designed to represent six different cultures.
Food, music, performances and activities celebrate the lives in iconic times and places. This year, you can visit the cultures of Ireland, Asia, Mexico, Austria, 1950’s America and Shakespeare’s England.
Lanterns! will open its gates at 6 p.m. each night, closing at 10 p.m. on Friday-Saturday, then at 9 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available here or at the gate.
But before Lanterns! can take flight, the world-renowned Vienna Boys’ Choir will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. The best-selling choir will fill the the newly rededicated Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre, which will be transformed into an Austrian dreamworld, reflecting the choir’s homeland.
