‘La Cage aux Folles’ Selected as Argenta Community Theater Summer Production

More Tony Award-winning plays in the neighborhood? Yes, please.

The Argenta Community Theater has a tradition of putting on a full show each summer, and this year the stage goes to “La Cage aux Folles.” Based on the 1973 French play of the same name, the Broadway show was nominated for nine Tony Awards and took home six, including the big one: Best Musical.

The story follows partners Georges and Albin, the manager of a nightclub with drag shows and the club’s star attraction, respectively. The sequins hit the fan, however, when Georges’s son comes home with his fiancée’s ultra-conservative parents in tow.

Opening night to “La Cage aux Folles” is Friday, July 22, and the show runs through July 30. Tickets to the musical comedy are on sale now. To get yours and learn more about the production, visit the Argenta Community Theater website.
