Christmas is right around the corner and so is the 2019 Northern Lights Festival in Argenta.
Head to North Little Rock’s charming arts district on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 5 – 9 p.m. for a tree lighting ceremony, Christmas carolers, a holiday market and more. And not only will there be Christmas festivities galore, Nov. 30 also marks the opening of the Argenta Plaza at 510 Main St.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place across the street from the Argenta Community Theater at 405 Main Street, along with dozens of trees lining both sides of Main Street. North Little Rock’s new Christmas tree will be one of the tallest in the state.
The kid- and dog-friendly event will have craft booths, food trucks, face painting, fireworks, horse-drawn carriage rides and live music from The Big Dam Horns. Cast members from the Argenta Community Theater’s production of “A Christmas Carol” will also be strolling around Argenta for photos.
The festival will be the first major event to be held in Argenta Plaza, a $5.36-million community space owned by the City of North Little Rock that will be managed by the North Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau. The plaza features modern swings, a stage with a 40-foot video projection wall, a water wall and fountains.
“Argenta Plaza belongs to everyone in North Little Rock,” says North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith. “Our Northern Lights Festival is a perfect opportunity for all neighborhoods to come together and celebrate the holiday season as one community.”
