Now in its 55th year, the Just Communities of Arkansas‘ annual Humanitarian Awards are set for Tuesday, May 8, at the Jack Stephens Center on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus.
Just Communities of Arkansas (JCA) is a social justice organization whose mission is to build communities through education, celebration and advocacy. Likewise, JCA’s signature event is all about celebrating the rich diversity in Arkansas.
Each year, the organization honors the humanitarian work of a select few. The 2018 honorees are Rhonda Aaron, Dr. Glenn Anderson and Sherman Tate. JCA will also award its first posthumous award to Dr. Robert E. Johnston “for his lifetime of service to social justice and equality.”
“We are living in contentious times,” JCA’s Donald Wood said, “but the good news is that difficult situations are opportunities to create mutual understanding and shared benefits, and our Humanitarian Awardees provide shining examples. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our strength in diversity and positively affirm our connection to one another.”
The evening’s activities begin at 6 p.m., with all proceeds benefitting JCA’s programs and services. Click here to get your tickets.
