Jewelers Host Screening of ‘Sharing the Rough’

You see them in commercials, online, on display under glass. You marvel at their beauty hands-on. But do you ever wonder how these precious gems come the depths of the earth to that spotless little cushion at the jewelry counter?

We have. That’s where “Sharing the Rough” comes onto the scene. This documentary follows the story of each stone from the hands of East African miners to the gem cutters to the designers.

Now you have a chance to see the film yourself. Stanley Jewelers and Roberson’s Fine Jewelry are sponsoring an exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at the Argenta Community Theater.

Not only will audiences experience the film, but they’ll also have the chance to meet the movie’s director and gemstone cutter, Orin Mazzoni and Roger Dery, as well as a Q&A with the two after the screening.

The event also serves as a drop-off spot for a book drive held to stock the shelves of the Kitarini Children’s School in Tanzania.
