This family-friendly event takes over the Riverfront Park downtown twice a year, but no one seems to mind, if that gives you any indication as to what a local favorite it is.

Jazz in the Park is a free concert every Wednesday in April. There’s some seating in the History Pavilion amphitheater, but this is a pretty ideal situation to break out the picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Shows start at 6 p.m.

At the park, you can purchase water, soft drinks, beer and wine with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Art Porter Music Education scholarship fund. No coolers allowed, folks.

Here’s a look at the Jazz in the Park spring 2016 lineup:

  • April 6: Acoustix with Rod P
  • April 13: Bijoux Pighee & Band
  • April 20: Off the Cuff
  • April 27: SynRG
