Jazz in the Park is a free concert every Wednesday for a whole month with shows starting at 6 p.m. This family-friendly event is a local favorite, meaning no one seems to mind when it takes over the Riverfront Park downtown twice a year. Listeners fill in the amphitheater seating at the History Pavilion or break out the picnic blankets and lawn chairs, and with cooler temps on the way, it’s a pretty ideal situation to do so.

At the park, you can purchase water, beer and wine with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Art Porter Music Education scholarship fund. But no coolers allowed, folks.

Here’s a look at the new Jazz in the Park lineup:

  • Sept. 7: Jazz R Us
  • Sept. 14: Julia Buckingham Group
  • Sept. 21: Tonya Leeks & Band
  • Sept. 28: Rodney Block & The Real Music Lovers
