Prostate Cancer: Men’s Health Exams
Prostate cancer is the number one cancer risk for men, but if detected early, it can be effectively treated and cured. Screenings include a digital rectal exam and a prostate-specific antigen blood test.
IDEAL CANDIDATES:
It is critical that all men over the age of 50 receive annual prostate screenings. For those who have a higher risk of prostate cancer, such as those with a family history of prostate cancer or African-American men, screenings should begin at the age of 40.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Don’t want to come into an office for an exam? Arkansas Urology is offering two Kickoff to Men’s Health events for you and your family that will also include the opportunity for a screening, which only takes a few minutes. Afterward, enjoy an evening with family, reminding yourself why you got the exam – to take control of your health!
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE EXAM?
Results are sent off for testing and evaluated. If the results of the test come back with elevated concerns or suspicions, the individual will be contacted and a recommendation to see a healthcare professional.
WHAT ELSE IS AT THE EVENT?
Attendees and their families are welcome to stay and enjoy the evening. Face painting, food, health and wellness experts and fitness competitions by UA Little Rock athletics will be on-site. TV and Kendra Scott giveaways will also be held, along with treats from Le Pops.
WHAT THE PROS SAY:
Prostate cancer is common; about one in nine men will be diagnosed. It’s also one of the most treatable types of cancer today. A prostate cancer diagnosis doesn’t have to be cause for panic.

WHAT IS PHOTOFABULOUS?
The Lumenis Photofractional treatment is a complete skin rejuvenation solution, enabling your physician to offer remarkable results on a range of skin concerns such as age and sun spots, vascular lesions, uneven texture and skin tone.
The Lumenis Photofractional rejuvenation technology includes two solutions — intense pulsed light (IPL) and ResurFX non-ablative skin resurfacing — so that both skin tone and texture can be treated at the same session.
IDEAL CANDIDATES:
Just about anyone who wants to see smoother skin can be treated. However, energy-based treatments are not suitable for everyone. Avoid this treatment when you have active infections, inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancer or viral, fungal or bacterial diseases.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Typically about three sessions are needed to see visible improvement in the skin texture. Optimal results are typically achieved after three to five sessions in two- to six-week intervals.
DOWNTIME:
Little to none. Some patients experience a small amount of swelling that usually diminishes after a few hours. Redness diminishes as quickly as the next day. Most patients resume their daily activities the day of treatment.
AREAS TREATED:
Face and hands that are in need of pigmentation improvement and skin rejuvenation.
WHAT THE PROS SAY:
“IPL is a staple in many of our patients’ skin care regimens. The Lumenis M-22 is more powerful than our previous device (so you need fewer treatments) and it is equipped with a unique cooling plate for maximum comfort. Highly recommend!” – Dr. Anne Trussell, physician/owner of Sei Bella Med Spa
