Kevin Walsh, Bear Hill Interiors
The proprietor of design firm and showroom Bear Hill Interiors, Walsh’s work has been featured nationally on the covers of Luxe Interior and Design, Southern Home and Traditional Home, as well as on the pages of HGTV Magazine and Southern Living.
Walsh was also named one of Traditional Home’s 10 New Trads of 2016.
Style: Tailored, collected and a little bit understated.
Favorite trend: I’m currently obsessed with the return of chintz floral fabrics.
On making a statement: Go bold with paint, wallpaper or fabric if you really want to make a statement.
What every home needs: Something vintage or antique. It will give your room instant character.
On timeless design: Stick with the classics.
Jill White, Jill White Designs
Before opening Jill White Designs in 2014, White earned a bachelor’s of interior design from the University of Arkansas.
After college she worked for California architecture firm Perkowitz and Ruth, which had an office in Rogers, then worked for Taylor Kempkes Architects in Hot Springs.
Style: Cool, comfortable, casual, monochromatic and approachable.
Favorite trend: Natural elements are everywhere. I love them — natural fiber rugs, woven furniture, grasscloth and textured textiles.
On making a statement: Be you! We all want our house to look like what we see on Pinterest, but no one wants a carbon copy. Make sure your house has unique items that no one else has, not that same Ikea chair everyone owns (even though I totally have that Ikea chair, too). Think family heirlooms, an original piece of art, your kids’ art, etc.
What every home needs: Plants and fresh flowers. They bring a certain element to a space and scream life and warmth
On timeless design: Keeping a neutral color palette throughout your home will allow you the flexibility to incorporate ever-evolving trends through accessories like furniture, pillows, rugs, art and paint. With that being said, don’t be afraid to wallpaper a room or paint a kitchen cabinet. It is the more permanent materials like windows, flooring and millwork that should stay timeless.
