The Historic Arkansas Museum will once again host the “History is Served: Arkansas Foodways Dinner Series” in 2021.
The program explores Arkansas’ food heritage through four dinners that use history as a guiding principle for each meal’s creation and celebrates four iconic foods of Arkansas: strawberries, tomatoes, corn and apples. The featured chef will create a unique menu inspired by one of those ingredients.
The first dinner, which will be served on April 22, will be created by Chef Capi Peck of Trio’s Restaurant. Chef Peck is known for strawberry shortcake, but intends to make strawberries the star of the main course.
The dinners will be available for curbside pickup and guests are invited to join a special Zoom program that explores the strawberry’s place in Arkansas history and culture.
The tomato will be celebrated in June, corn in August and apples in October. The specific dates will be announced later on the museum’s website and through their newsletter.
The dinner series is a program of HAM’s Arkansas Foodways Initiative, which was created by the museum’s Foundation Board.
Tickets for the dinner series are $60 for the general public, $50 for museum members, and will go on sale Monday, March 15, at 9 a.m. and will be available for purchase through the museum’s website.
